Other Ways First Responders Can Save at Retail Stores
Check Out Digital ID Sites
ID.me and SheerID are examples of digital verification sites that also partner with businesses offering exclusive discounts to first responders. The services are free for members.
Check With Your Union
The Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, for example, has partnerships with several vendors, including Dyson and BJ’s Wholesale Club.
Look Into Civilian Discounts
Register for a Store Loyalty Program
It’s an easy way to earn special rewards like points for future purchases, exclusive coupons, and free shipping. The best part is that loyalty programs are usually free.
Examples of businesses that offer loyalty programs include Panera Bread, Target, and Nordstrom.
Check Your Credit Card for Special Offers
It’s worth checking your credit card company for cash back specials with partnering retailers. Delta AMEX, for example, regularly has Spend $50 get $10 back and Get 3% back type of offers when you use their credit card at specified retailers.
Always Check for Coupons Before Purchasing
When I’m waiting in line to check out, I make a habit of taking out my phone and checking the store’s website for any available promos. If there aren’t any listed, I’ll usually ask the cashier if they have any coupons (just in case). When shopping online, I always check for specials and coupons either on the store’s site or social media pages. Other good places to check for retailer coupons are RetailMeNot and Swagbucks.
Earn Cash Back on Purchases
With the Ibotta app, you can earn cash back on purchases at stores like Target, QVC, Macys.com, JCPenney, Plow & Hearth, and Chewy. You can even link your store loyalty cards to Ibotta so you don’t have to miss out on any discounts that the store offers.
Just Ask
Not every business publishes their exclusive discounts and promotions. Plus with some chains, discounts can vary by region. If in doubt, it doesn’t hurt to ask.
