Examples of Regional and Local Discounts

American Museum of Natural History. Seniors 60+ pay $18 for admission. Regular adult ticket is $23. (If you’re a resident of New York state, New Jersey, or Connecticut you can pay what you’d like.)
Chicago

Art Institute of Chicago. Seniors 65+ pay $19 for a general admission that usually costs $25.
If an establishment you’re interested in doing business with doesn’t publish a senior discount, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they have one. Here are some places to ask.
Ask for Regional and Local Discounts at These Establishments
- Museums, zoos, and wildlife parks
- Attractions and theme parks
- Privately-owned restaurants
- Privately-owned hotels and bed & breakfasts
- Walking tours & bus tours
- Whale watching tours
- Shops, including those located within museums and attractions
Receiving a small percentage off your hotel stay, airline flight, or ticket to an attraction may not seem like a big deal. But consider, for example, that 10% off a $200 a night hotel room booked for nights could save you about $100. That could pay for a nice dinner or admission to an event.
AARP and AAA offer solid travel benefits to their members, but if you prefer not to work through these organizations, there are options available to you as a senior,
